Yeah you are right...he does seem to get a little stressed/nervous at times. The annoying thing is I do constant training with him and he is perfect with all commands until he gets a scent or sees a deer (or a cat when he gets totally fixated!)...so I have been working on the watch me command more and more when out. Its very hard to get his attention when another dog is walking towards us, altho he will sit and stay....impossible to get his attention near where a cat is.

It is strange isnt it when they take a dislike to dogs for no reason....at agility on Fri he was impeccable....paid no attention to the other 2 entire dogs there, who he has previously had a fixation with, andwatched me whenever I asked him to, and funnily enough there was another dog there who we hadnt seen before (not entire) who seemed to not like Dylan initially! They were both on lead and I dont tend to let Dylan say hello to other dogs when he is on lead as he is best off lead....and the other one pulled towards him and growled! If only they could speak.....how easy would our job be then??! :D

I know where you are coming from  Add Boo's piercing eyes into it and its a sign for most dogs to dislike so I trying to get the watch but something such as football well im on a hiding to nothing but if I suddenly make a funny sound and run backwards like a puppy recall he will usually respond and then I have a bit of a distance to start the watch training again! If you cant get him to focus you are to close, at agility sometimes I have to use a car to block then move back and stay back as he is very excited but fast moving anythings. This is slowly working and last week I manage a agility lesson with kids playing footie in the same field, Boo would have done the longest down stay ever if it ment he could watch that football but he was a good boy and when I sent him around the equiptment he done it all but as soon as we stopped he was fixated again. but at least the training is working to some degree! he didnt go and play footie

Great point Lisa about reading your dog! It all comes under the dog psychology part, sometimes you find patterns, sometimes its bewildering. I think sometimes energy comes into it and dogs sense the energy before we do!
