Hi Nando

Think most of the bods on the forum are uk based and im pretty sure Cane Corsos are banned in the UK now?

Stunning dogs!! Only heard of a few here many moons ago but that wasnt under the best circumstances as they were in the press for attacking a horse whilst someone was out riding :(

Obviously in the wrong hands!

Lots of Dobe fans on here (me being one of them! )

There is a male Cane Corso ive seen at the church yard on my night walks,

the lady owner calls him a right little W****R, when it comes to other dogs so weve only been able to chat at about 10 foot distance

http://www.k9obedience.co.uk/dogbreed/canecorso.html

the one i saw was golden rust colour, about rottie/large ridgeback size, i thought at first it was a mastif puppy as full of bounce, but that was to get at Kodi.

if it had been daylight i would have taken a bit more time as i was fairly certain the Corso was only being biostrous and could have calmed down to a greeting and sensible sniff.

good solid dogs, lovely

Hi, I used to run into a blue female Cane Corso off lead at a park. She was quite athletic and bouncy (almost Boxer like) and ran rings around my Leonberger and a friend's Labrador. The Cane was very aloof towards me, but played very well with the dogs. All the dogs were female and no same sex aggression was displayed. This was just one dog and I wouldn't judge all Cane Corso's on this, but I came away with a positive attitude towards the breed. However, this is A LOT of dog. Only purchase a puppy from health tested parents (good hips etc) with good temperaments that were raised in the house. Don't take the breeder's word on it, check the health results and meet the parent's of the dog. If you get one, be prepared to socialize, train, and then socialize some more. A female puppy would probably be a little less dominant.

Just for the record the banned 'types of dog'

Section 1 of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 prohibits four types of dog:

the Pit Bull Terrier
the Japanese tosa
the Dogo Argentino
the Fila Brasileiro

however i have seen some interesting cross breeds even now almost 20 years after this legislation was passed.

Hi, I am new on here, I have a 2year old GSD, and recently a new member has joined our pack in the shape of a cane corso cross ridgeback, called (what else)Kane. .......He is 7 weeks old (we had to get him early beacause of dominence issues between the 3 males) and he already weighs in at 8 kilos!!
Im planning to train him, so that I can take him to work with me, I am a security dog handler. I have chosen the clicker method for him, because of the sheer size of him when he gets older. and at 7 weeks you can already see the dominence in him, its amazing, but also being crossed with a rigdeback, he is really responding well to the clicker, and food!!!
Normally, if it were a shepard, I would not start this process til abit older, but because of both of these breeds nature, i have decided to get on top of it while i can!!
The only trouble im having it toilet traning, i know it sounds wierd, because I can do all the rest, but ive run out of ideas!! because I am out alot of the day(not all day), so he comes with me, as does my GSD, as she has always done, they have ample space in the back of my van and get to go on loads of walks, but because he is in the van, Im not able to catch him doing it, so theres my dillema?!! Would be grateful for any suggestions!!

And can I also just say that I think any dog can be dangerous, if its in the wrong hands!! Punish the deed, not the breed!

Ill try and get a picture of them both on here soonxx

I think its natural for a pup to do that, they cant really even control their bladders for a bit anyway, so I wouldnt beat myself up for a while yet!

Hi All

I have just joined the forum (and have been spending some considerable time reading all the excellent posts) I came across this thread, and although it is old thought I would just add that I have a Cane Corso. she is 15 weeks old, and a really lovely intelligent girl, who learns sooo quickly. I would be intersted to know if there are any other Corso owners out there

Chris :)
