I’ve wanted dogs since I was very little and eventually acquired a couple of Great Dane bitches over 20 years ago. I then bought a Gordon Setter dog – a breed I’d discovered in the Observer Book of Dogs which I had on almost permanent loan from the local library as a child – and went on to show him for several years.
The rest is a bit of a long story, but I ended up with a Gordon Setter X called Whisper and moved to the south coast so it was a long time before I added to the canine family.
 Last year I decided that Whisper was getting a bit elderly and I was missing having two dogs to interact and be company for each other, so I bought Riley, an Irish Setter puppy. Sadly, Whisper died quite suddenly in October 08 so I’m currently back to one dog but hoping to change this fairly soon!
