“On a hot summer night......would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?” Well, my mum did and on the 15th September 2007, I was born along with 9 other puppies.
My Name is Turbo and I live in Tanzania, East Africa.
My canine mum is a Doberman cross Rottweiler, and Dad is a long haired Alsatian crossed with an American Staffordshire Terrier.
I have been lucky enough to meet my grandparents on my father's side as they all still live together. The top Picture is my Dad 'Punka Bear.
Mum was still quite young when she had us, as it was an illicit one night stand, and she didn't want us after a month. My new owner, Emily, comes to work where I was born and during the day she has fed us on raw mince and rice with calcium lactate to help us grow as Mum's milk dried up.
Although I am only 6 weeks old, I came home with Emily for the first time last night. Although the car has a special shelf in the rear section for me when I'm older, I sat on the front seat, which I will do until I'm older and used to travelling.
When we got home, I was introduced to the two rescued kittens, Smoke and Spanner. Spanner has not taken much notice of me, but sits close when I am sleeping and stares at me. Smoke is a bit harder as she runs away which makes me bark. She also gave me a smacked bottom when I got too close in the garden.
At ten o'clock I did my last garden run and then after some advice from this K9 website, I have been granted a sheepskin as my bed and comfort blanket when travelling. I went straight to sleep. Although I got up for some water and a couple of wee's during the night I didn't whine. Emily on the other hand woke up every hour to come and check on me. She is now asleep on the sofa which is why I have had to write this.
Emily would really like me to sleep outside, but my new home is in a coffee plantation and there is a resident leopard, so I have to learn to sleep inside. My job will be as Emily's ‘Askari', which is the Swahili word for Guard. I will be with her all the time at home, in the car, and at work. I will also have to learn to be in the car and guard that too, when Emily is shopping.
When I am older, I hope to learn to go run along with horses, so that when Emily goes riding I can go along too. The coffee plantation is very extensive and the neighbours have horses which are allowed to graze free in the area so I have to learn to be around them for when we go out on walks.
Enjoy the photos. Cute aren't I?!
